Even at a young age, Voth knew that he wanted to pursue a career in combat sports. After watching early UFC videotapes and DVDs that his father brought home, Tyler took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, boxing, and Judo before focusing on his wrestling career.

With a wide variety of fighting skills already in his arsenal, Voth had plenty of success in his amateur career, picking up notable wins over Daniel Stevens (4-1) and Shawn Woodyard (5-2) and winning the Hardrock MMA amateur title. Now as a professional, he can’t help but think about reaching his goal of fighting for the UFC.

I think about it every day; I literally think about fighting in the UFC every single day. It’s all I’ve wanted to do my whole life. I don’t have a backup plan. I’ve put everything toward fighting.

Training at Reaction MMA in Lexington, Ky., under MWG client Rob Nickerson, Voth is confident he can get there.

Rob Nickerson, he just puts so much time and effort into the gym and all the fighters. He’s such a big part of it. We have a full fight team of really, really good, talented people who take the sport just as serious as I do.
